About Claire Sofowora,
MSc, HDip, GMBPsS, MICIP
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist (US & UK)
(Claire is not a licensed mental health professional in the United States. Her work focuses on emotional wellbeing, self-regulation, and hypnotherapy-based support.)
Many people seek support not because something is “wrong,” but because they feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in survival mode, disconnected from themselves, or uncertain about who they are becoming. Modern life moves fast. It demands constant adaptation, emotional resilience, and inner stability - yet rarely teaches us how to build these skills.
Claire Sofowora is a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist and integrative practitioner supporting individuals to build emotional resilience, regulate the nervous system, and navigate periods of change with greater clarity and self-trust. She is based in Florida and works with clients across the US and UK through online sessions, offering a warm, evidence-informed, and deeply person-centred approach.
At the heart of Claire’s work is a focus on helping clients move out of survival mode and into a more grounded, empowered relationship with themselves. She supports people experiencing stress, burnout, emotional overwhelm, anxiety, and major life transitions, with an emphasis on building internal resources, emotional regulation skills, and a deepened sense of inner safety.
Background & Professional Training
Claire holds an MSc in Psychology, an Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, and formal training in Humanistic Counselling Skills from the United Kingdom. She is currently completing further professional training in the UK toward UKCP accreditation.
Before training in Psychology and integrative wellbeing support, Claire spent over seven years working in international development, managing community, education, and health projects across countries including India, Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan, Sudan, South Sudan and Ukraine. She also contributed to disaster response efforts following Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas, and has remained committed to community-based mental health support ever since.
Alongside her private practice, Claire volunteers as a telehealth wellbeing practitioner and hypnotherapist with the Grand Bahama Resilience Center, contributing to resilience-building and community healing initiatives. These experiences deeply shaped her belief in accessible, culturally sensitive, and preventative emotional support work.
Approach & Philosophy
Claire’s clinical style is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, grounded in both psychological science and a deep respect for the lived experience of each person she works with. Her work integrates evidence-based cognitive and behavioural approaches with hypnotherapy, mindfulness, and nervous-system-informed practice.
Her approach is increasingly shaped by the emotional challenges of modern life - digital overload, constant stimulation, identity shifts, burnout, and nervous system dysregulation in a rapidly changing world. As artificial intelligence and technology transform how we live and work, she believes emotional intelligence, self-regulation, and inner safety are becoming essential human skills.
Through her practice, Self-Care with Claire, she offers a supportive space for those who are ready to understand themselves more deeply, soften unhelpful patterns, and build the emotional skills needed for long-term wellbeing.

Client Reviews
“Working with Claire has helped me change the way I relate to myself and my emotions. I had been dealing with anxious thinking, low confidence, poor sleep habits, and difficulty in social situations.
Since our sessions, I’m definitely more aware, more confident, and much less hard on myself. I’ve also gained a better understanding of my patterns and how I can support my partner, which has helped me face challenges in my relationship in a healthier way. Even when my sleep slips, I now clearly understand the habits and behaviours I need to work on.
Claire is patient, calm, and deeply attentive. She creates a very safe environment and helped me explore complex feelings while feeling completely at ease. I would absolutely recommend her services.”
— Male, London, UK“I didn’t really know what to expect from hypnotherapy, but Claire quickly made me feel at ease. She guided each session with confidence, always knowing when to ask the right questions, and spoke in such a kind and genuine way.
The tools Claire shared helped me think differently in certain situations and manage my anxiety by being more mindful of my thoughts, without dwelling on them. I still use these tools today, and they have made a real difference to my day-to-day life.
I also really valued the achievable action plans Claire set and how she summarised our sessions and clarified the strategies we discussed. I would highly recommend Claire as a practitioner.”
— Female, Newmarket, UK“I originally came to work with Claire because I was struggling with imposter syndrome and wanted practical support to feel more confident and assertive at work.
Through our sessions, I’ve become much more able to hold myself in conversations with senior stakeholders, and my influence within the company has genuinely been noticed. Practising assertiveness techniques was incredibly useful, and although role play felt uncomfortable at times, Claire was always completely non-judgemental and supportive.
What really stood out was Claire’s calming presence. Her voice and overall demeanour created such a safe space that I was able to access very relaxed, deep emotional states without ever feeling silly or exposed. Claire is a very professional practitioner and I would recommend her services to anyone.”
